Andrey Rublev museum of early Russian culture and art
Located in the ancient Spaso-Andronikov monastery, where A.Rublev lived and worked. Spassky(Our Saviour) Cathedral of this monastery( early XV centry) is the most ancient temple in Moscow. The museum has a rich collection of icons of the XIII-XIX centuries, as well as of plastic art, anciend embroidery, manuscripts, and early printed books. Among the museum’s masterpieces are icons “Our Saviour the Pantocrator”(XIII century), “John the Baptist”(first third of the XV century, A.Rublev’s circle), “The Assuption of Our Lady”(early XVI centry, Dionisius’ workshop), “Our Lady of Vladimir and Volokolamsk”(third qurter of the XVI century).
